Program Overview

The mission of the International Scholars Program (ISP) is to equip international, multilingual students with the linguistic, cultural, and communicative competence needed for the successful completion of coursework in their chosen field(s) of study at CGU. To accomplish this, it offers preparatory courses for all incoming or current international students that teach the expectations and genres of North American academic culture while developing students’ skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and presenting. It also offers workshops and conversation groups to support CGU’s international student population. Finally, the ISP Pathway Program provides a route for students who test below their program’s direct entry requirements to gain full admission into CGU.


ISP Pathways Program

The International Scholars Program offers a pathways program for students who test below the direct entry requirements of their program. Depending on the entrance score, students will be required to enter at either Tier 1 or Tier 2 (see chart below). Achievement of a grade of B (83%) or better in all of the courses in your tier is required before progress to the next tier is allowed. All courses are asynchronous with synchronous components; therefore, the program can be completed entirely from a student’s home country and on their own schedule. For students who would like to complete a portion of the program in person, options are available. Upon successful completion of the International Scholars Program, you will proceed to your graduate program of study.
