Career Development Office

It's never too soon to begin planning for your career. The goal of the Career Development Office (CDO) is to empower you and give you the tools you need to achieve your career goals, whether it's your first career-level position, a transition to a new career, or a move up the ladder. We offer workshops on a variety of professional development topics both in person and online. We have a dedicated staff who understand the employment issues facing advanced degree holders and are available to meet with you individually to tailor a plan to your specific needs.

Center for Writing and Rhetoric

The CWR is designed to support students during any stage in their writing process, from brainstorming to outlining, from drafting to reviewing, from polishing to presenting. And students can work with us on a range of projects, from papers to posters, from class discussions to conference presentations. The Center does not offer editing or proofreading services; rather, our consultants will help students strategize how to best approach a project — whether it is due tomorrow, next week, or in a year.

Data Analysis & Visualization

Courtesy of the Claremont Colleges LibraryThe Claremont Colleges Library offers some support for data analysis, but our resources are generally not as extensive as those of the colleges. We cannot, for example, provide in depth software training for many of the tools used for data analysis. However, we can refer you to appropriate resources at the colleges and to resources in our collections, or online, for learning more about how to use these tools.

Preparing Future Faculty

The Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) national initiative was launched in 1993 by the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) and the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS). The initiative aimed to transform how graduate students prepared for academic careers in higher education. Today, these goals are even more urgent as higher education changes radically. PFF programs play a critical role in helping graduate students prepare for productive and balanced faculty lives of ethical and excellent scholarly practice, teaching, and service.
