General Questions

Who can use the DLL services?
Any CGU student, faculty, or staff member. Alumni are also welcome.

Do I need to pay something for this service?
No, DLL services are free.

Where are you located?
DLL is in the basement of Harper Hall, offices 14 and 12.

What are your working hours?
Our working hours are based on the DLL Fellows' availability. You can check our schedule for more details.

What is the best way to contact the DLL?
Since the DLL is not staffed at all times, we do not list a phone number. The best way to contact the DLL is via email: digital.learning@cgu.edu

My only availability is on weekends and evenings but you are closed then. What should I do?
You can email us with any special requests you might have. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Appointments

Do I need to make an appointment to use the DLL services?
We encourage you to schedule an appointment in advance to make sure the DLL Fellow is knowledgeable about the tool you need help with. But you can walk-in by checking the appointment system to see if someone is on duty and available.

How many appointments can I make?
You can schedule up to one appointment per week. But if the schedule is open and there is an available slot, you can do a "walk-in" appointment.

How do I make an appointment?
Use the online scheduling system to make an appointment. Check this webpage for more details.

How do I choose a DLL Fellow for my appointment?
Each Fellow has a specific skillset. Use the LIMIT TO button at the top of the schedule to select the technology tool you want help with. This will filter the DLL Fellows and show you only those who have the skills for the tool you want.

I am more than 15 minutes late for my appointment. Is that a problem?
Yes. Our appointments are 50 minutes long, as we have estimated this is sufficient time for clients to get the basic knowledge and skills. Being more than 15 minutes late is considered no show, because we would not be able to work effectively in the remaining time.

I made an appointment but I won't be able to make it. What should I do?
You can go to the online scheduling system and cancel your appointment.

Scope of Service

Can you help me with my homework/project?
No, we do not offer tutoring services. We can only teach you how to use a certain technology.

Can you format my dissertation?
No. We can show you how to use Microsoft Word to format the document yourself but we cannot do your work for you. You can visit the Registrar's website for formatting requirements and pagination.

Can you create a website or e-portfolio for me?
No. We can teach you how to use specific software tools and create a website yourself, but we cannot do the work for you. We would be happy to meet with you multiple times to coach you through the different aspects of building a website or e-portfolio.

Can I bring my own data when I come to the lab for assistance?
Yes, in fact we strongly recommend that you do so as that will help us give you more relevant help.

I have a problem with my computer. Can you fix it?
No, we are not IT helpdesk and do not provide tech support. Please contact your device manufacturer for assistance.

I have a problem logging into the lab computers and I need to reset my password. Can you help me?
No. You need to contact CGU IT helpdesk for assistance with such problems.
