As you may know, CGU students are among the many who have been directly affected by the current challenges surrounding COVID-19.  Our current cohorts who are graduating or nearing graduation are particularly impacted as some have seen job and internship offers rescinded or canceled over the past few weeks. The Career Development Office, in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Engagement, could use your help.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

  1. One unique way is by hosting and posting Micro-Internships for CGU students. Micro-Internships are paid, professional projects that generally range from 5-40 hours of work and can be completed remotely.  These projects are similar to what is completed during a typical internship and allows students the opportunity to gain "real world" experience they can showcase on their resume and leverage to obtain a future opportunity. If interested contact Leigh Schroyer, Assistant Director, Employer Engagement, for more details leigh.schroyer2@cgu.edu
  2. An in person internship starting later in the summer and lasting for 5 rather than 10 weeks. If interested contact Leigh Schroyer, Assistant Director, Employer Engagement, for more details leigh.schroyer2@cgu.edu
  3. Mentor a student, or small group of students for a few months. Share with them career challenges you have faced. Help them brainstorm for ways to find opportunities, build their networks. If interested contact Christine Kelly, Director, Career Development, christine.kelly@cgu.edu
  4. Conduct mock virtual interviews with students to help them prepare to excel in their interviews. If interested contact Christine Kelly, Director, Career Development, christine.kelly@cgu.edu or Michael Sacoto, Assistant Director, Career Development, michael.sacoto2@cgu.edu
  5. Be available for informational interviews for students who are exploring career options.
  6. Volunteer for 1 hour as a panelist for our 3rd Annual Career Readiness Conference, our first virtual one, on September 4, 2020. Contact Michael Sacoto, Assistant Director, Career Development, if interested michael.sacoto2@cgu.edu

IF YOU ARE ON THE JOB MARKET
