How does the Career Development Office help me with career planning?

We partner with you to determine your career goals and then design an action plan to meet those goals. We've developed Career Road Maps as guides to help you navagate the process from self-assessment to career assessment, search strategies (i.e. networking), creation of self-marketing tools (i.e. resume/CV, cover letters), and interview preparation. We provide an online interview preparation platform Big Interview (cgu.biginterview.com) you can use to develop and practice your interviewing skills before you meet with a career consultant for a mock interview.

Will the Career Development Office give me direct access to alumni for networking purposes?

You may be provided with alumni contacts if we have an ongoing relationship with an alumnus who works in your field of interest. However, before referring you to a direct contact, we will often work with you on your networking skills.

Does the Career Development Office offer services to CGU alumni?

Yes. Alumni are welcome to attend our on-campus career workshops and information sessions. We also encourage alumni to schedule an individual appointment with our career consultants to discuss their career related needs, whether that be finding their first post-CGU job, preparing to advance their a career or launching a career transition.

We offer them on occasion; please refer to the CGU master calendar for all upcoming events.
